Summary:  The Minister of Children and Youth Discipleship is a part-time (30 hour a week) staff position responsible for the overall planning and coordination of children and youth Christian formation. Working closely with the Pastor, Children’s and Youth’s Commissions, this position guides the transition of the ongoing programming needs for Youth and Children from infant to senior youth.

 

A.  Children Ministries and Program (20 hours a week)

          *  Provide oversight and/or implementation for Sunday School for all Children (leadership recruitment, training and support)

          * Collaborate with the Children’s Commission and Parents to give leadership to all Children’s Programs and Activities

          * Provide oversight for childcare needs during Sunday School and worship (paid employees and volunteers)

          *  Review and select age and theologically appropriate curriculum

          *  Develop a schedule of events, activities and other learning experiences outside of the Sunday School hour

          *  Maintain and uphold the Child Protection Policy of the church

          *  Provide leadership for the “Time with Children” on a regular basis in worship

 

B. Youth Ministries and Program (10 hours a week)

          * Provide oversight and/or implementation for Sunday School for Jr. and Senior Youth (recruitment, training, and support)

          * Collaborate with the Youth Commission, Parents, and Youth to give leadership to all Youth Programs and Activities

          *  Review and select age and theologically appropriate curriculum

          *  Develop a schedule of events, activities, and other learning experiences outside of the Sunday School hour.

          *  Maintain and uphold the Child Protection Policy of the church

         

 

C.  General Administrative

          * Collaborates and works closely with all commissions, parents, and Staff to ensure good communication, scheduling, and coordination between all church programs and the use of the church facility

          *  Attend Staff meetings and regular supervision with Pastor

          *  Provide information for weekly church newsletter and other media communication as needed to target ministry groups

          *  Assist the Church Council and Stewardship Commission as requested related to Budget recommendations

          *  Maintain accurate demographic and contact information on all participants: children, youth, and parents; teachers and shepherds; and commission members
